I am happy to report that all three of our sweet little baby girls are putting on the grams. Some days faster then other days and sometimes they might loose a few along the way but the overall trend is up, up, up and away.
Everyone is doing so very well. They spend the majority of their days in an incubator except for when they come out for a cuttle or a snuggle with mom and dad or Aunt Tracy (whom happened to be in the city for a few days).
We are parenting through their incubators. Changing diapers, taking temperatures, soothing when crying episodes begin or just when their heart rates seem a bit high. Getting to know our girls in a bit of an unconventional way but getting to know them just the same. Violet is our laid back little lady (most days). She also continues to be our biggest girl in terms of weight currently 1820 grams or 4.01241 lbs.
Evangeline and Victoria we have discovered are actually 'the twins'. Originally we thought that Baby A (Evangeline) and Baby B (Violet) were the twins but the blood work said other wise. Two of the girls are O+ and one is A+ and the blood work doesn't lie. Now that we have discovered who is who it all seems to make sense. Victoria and Evangeline seem very similar in many ways...both resemble their daddy (well at least that's what the general consensus is) and both are real fire crackers...."Change my diaper? Surely you must be joking? Wrap me in the blanket? Sorry but I am going to kick that off...repeatedly." Not to mention they already seem to have some sort of hidden twin language..."Hey mom's holding you? What? When's it going to by my turn?"
Evangeline's weight is 1248 grams or 2.12 pounds and Victoria is 1555 grams or 3 pounds and 6.85 ounces.
Evangeline currently is being assisted every so slightly by a CPAP. A continuous positive airway pressure machine. Basically, it inflates her lungs, just a little, to make it that much easier to take those big deep breaths in and out. This way our tiniest but oldest little girl can concentrate on using the majority of her energy to pack on those grams. Although she is doing fabulous, I must admit it's hard sometimes to look at our little one with this large amount of head gear on....we don't want to rush her, not one little bit, but do look forward to the day when she is ready to go without her CPAP...I am always amazed at how fiesty she can be, moving her head all over the place and often trying to remove the CPAP on her very own. When she gets those arms and hands going...look out!
So that's the update. Sorry it took awhile. Most of my time is spent being a mom and hanging out with our girls. My goal is to see if I can perhaps update the blog every two weeks....at least that's the plan. As my girlfriend in Florida texted me the other day "Can you even fathom how fast time is flying by?" The answer to that is "No, I really can't". The girls are 4 weeks old in a few short hours and 1 month old in just a few days....
In this short yet not so short amount of time Todd and I are changed people, forever and ever....... as now we are parents and we have the three most amazing, precious blessing that we could ever ask for and now that they are here can't imagine how we possibly got along without them.
Happy Father's Day to my husband and all the dad's out there! Celebrating all the amazing moments of father hood.

Thanks Melissa...you (& the girls) bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. The girls look GREAt...I can't believe how much they have changed! Even a few grams on little people can make such a difference -- they are looking "rounder"!! We think of you and your family a lot..take care. Lots of love, Auntie Jan
You gals (and guys) are all so amazing!!!!! I love reading about the girls! It's truly a wonderful time for you. I can't wait to watch them grow. Time does go by so fast!
Melissa, it's been a pleasure reading your blog since I have not been able to make it back to the hospital for the last few weeks. Hope to see you in the next few days. Loves, Dragana
